Welcome to Alba Trek - Central Scotland's premier guided walk company!
Where are we?
Based near Edinburgh in Linlithgow, the birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots, we specialise in fully inclusive guided day walks in the Trossachs.
Where do we go?
We invite you to join us in our secret lochs, glens and forests of the Trossachs and experience one of the last wildernesses in Europe at close quarters.
Sometimes known as "The Highlands in Minature" the Trossachs are situated on the physical boundary between the Highlands and the Lowlands of Scotland. It has some of the most spectacular landscapes and views seen anywhere in the country and is just over an hour's drive from Edinburgh.
The Trossachs (from the Gaelic ' bristled country') originally denoted the small woodland glen between Ben An to the north, Ben Venue to the south, Loch Achray to the east and Loch Katrine to the west. The Trossachs has traditionally been taken to include the wider area of wooded glens and hills bounded to the west by Loch Lomond, to the east by Callander and to the south to Aberfoyle and the Loch Ard Forest. Today, the Trossachs are within the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park.
Popularised in the romanatic poem "Lady of the Lake" by Sir Walter Scott and later in his novel "Rob Roy" depicting the story of Raibert Ruadh (known as Rob Roy Macgregor)the area was also a favourite destination for Queen Victoria who had a house on the shores of Loch Katrine.
